Up to Date and the Future

Now you know what I have been up to till now I can finally say Happy New Year and hopefully 2013 will bring us all good things including a fantastic degree for me but I will have to put the work in.

The future brings a number of new projects including a new External Client Project, I will be working with another student, a film student called Tom Newman, here is a link to his vimeo account where you can view some of his work, (www.vimeo.com/user4881669). Our external client is a well known company called One Piece Jump In. They design the ultimate chillout attire that is essential an all in one tracksuit, some might say an adult baby grow but I say it something you should wear to stay looking fresh, comfy and chilled whether your lazing around or playing extreme sports. Tom and I look forward to working with this company and are going to be pushing ourselves to produce the ultimate composition using both live image shots and CGI. Here is another link to their website to help you to get a better understanding of who they are (www.onepiece.co.uk).

Another project is my 5 artefacts that I will produce to prove of disprove my findings from the research assignment I undertook last term. I have produced a survey to help gain an understanding from the public and other industrial professionals on their opinion as to the importance of exaggeration to help convey emotion in animated performance. When I have collected enough data I will produce the results on one my next few posts. Here is a link to my survey please feel free to take part (www.surveymonkey.com/s/88NG7HL).

Internal Client Project: ATRG (Advanced Textile Research Group)

For the Internal Client Project we had to create a 45 second advert to show what future products of the research group ATRG (Advanced Textile Research Group) could produce from the research they had undertaken to produce the future of textile technology. Hopefully my advert below will help you to understand who ATRG are and the possible uses of the their technology.

Research Assignment

For my Research Assignment I chose a the topic, 'What Level Of Exaggeration Helps To Convey Emotion In An Animated Performance?' I chose this topic as I want to further my studies in Character Animation, I wanted to find out how exaggeration is exactly used in order to make a character seem believable and connect with an audience on an emotional level like those that Pixar create in their animations such as Up and Toy Story. The assignment had to be at least 4000 words long, I successfully managed to receive a high 2.1 grade for this part of the project.

The next part of this project are the Artefacts which I will produce this week term in order to show whether my findings were correct or not.

There is not much else to say on this assignment as it is mainly written but you will be able to see my artefacts which I will continually show the progress and my findings along the way on   this blog.

Context 3 Assignments

Last Term I was set two Context 3 Assignments, one of which was to write up a business idea for a company and the other was to choose and/or design 5 images with 1000 words about each.

For the first assignment I had a business idea for an online tutorial website that is updated weekly with new animation tutorials for schools. I feel that Animation is something that you can't study at school but it could be something students could access online from home or at school in their free time from a young age. The schools would purchase a package for the children at their schools making it widely accessible to children World Wide. The tutorials would teach the children all types of animation from 2D and 3D to Stop Motion etc.

The second assignment was to choose 5 images that would best represent me at the Multimedia Exhibition in May of this year these images are not final but they are for me to start  thinking on how to sell myself through my work and my capabilities as a practitioner. Below are the five images I chose.

Time To Start Blogging Again

It has been an extremely long time since my last blog and so much as happened. I am about halfway through my final year of uni with only 5 months left and soon to be a graduate from Nottingham Trent University. Due to being extremely busy a whole term has passed since my last blog in May and so the following posts will update you on each module that I undertook and successfully passed between September to December of last year. The different modules that I worked upon were two Context 3 assignments, a Research Assignment and an Internal Client Project with a research group known as ATRG. It is important for me to start blogging again as I feel that it is a vital stage in showing my design process of my animations as well as receiving feedback from course mates and industry professionals as well as the public. There opinions matter as they are the audience that I aim to please, so all feedback is vital for me to improve as a partitioner.
